7.(For Sunday) Samosas and curry for ‘racist’ British party chief

London, June 14 (IANS) Anti-racist campaigners are being urged to put aside their rotten eggs and tomatoes to target British National Party (BNP) chief Nick Griffin with a more ethnic fare, such as a pot of hot vindaloo curry.
The website www.bragster.com has offered cash rewards to protesters who rustle up ethnic food to pelt Griffin, whose party takes a strong anti-immigration posture and reserves its membership for Whites.
The head of the far-right party, whose recent election to the European parliament has shocked the British political establishment, was pelted with eggs last week outside the British parliament, forcing him to call off a meeting.
He was also forced to abandon a press conference in the city of Manchester after protesters barred him from entering the Town Hall with chants of “Nick Griffin is fascist scum” and “Nazi scum off our streets”.
Now a spokesman for bragster.com - the website’s motto is “victory is sweet” - is promising cash rewards of 200 pounds to protesters who bombard Griffin with some “good old ethnic food”.
“Here at bragster.com, we are all about spreading the love - to everyone - regardless of background! One dude that doesn’t seem to share this sentiment is Nick Griffin, head of the British National Party and infamous star of the British press lately,” the website said.
“So what are we going to do about it? Well, of course, we’re going to hand out 200 pounds to any bragster who can bombard him with some good old ethnic food. He will be out and about a lot in the coming days; so now is the time to strike!
“We’re thinking samosas, spring rolls, jerk chicken, even a pot of vindaloo…let’s show him just how much fun international diversity can be!”
Protesters up to the challenge will have to upload video and photo proof to claim the cash reward.
“You will also become a national hero,” the website promised.
After the Manchester fiasco, Griffin said: “I think it’s very sad to see that hostile mob. They are allowed to register a protest but should not be allowed to get away with this level of violence and abuse on the streets of Britain.”
The Daily Star, a British tabloid, frontpaged the news with the headline “Chuck a Chapatti Time!”
