60% of citizens have booked transport to return home for electionsDecember 11th, 2007 - 10:32 am ICT by admin
Bangkok, 11 December, 2007 (PRD), The Transport Company limited has revealed that some 60-70 percent of citizens have booked tickets on buses and trains to return home from December 21st and 24th, presumably to take part in elections. The company said increased bookings may also be in part linked to a government policy to reduce fares during the time period by 50 percent.
The Transport Company states that it will increase bus rides from the election period until the New Year by around 40 percent. The increase should yield up to 3,000 more trips by the company.
The State Railway authority has also decreased train fares for second and third level tickets. Rail operators will also add up to 38 more trips to facilitate citizens traveling to their residences to vote.
