54,637 reserved posts vacant
August 11th, 2010 - 8:42 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS) A total of 54,637 Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes are vacant in central government ministries and departments.
Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Prithviraj Chavan told parliament Wednesday that the number of vacancies in the three categories were 26,565, 25,649 and 21,143 respectively.
Of these, 12,045, 2,799 and 3,876 posts had been filled, Chavan said in the Lok Sabha in reply to a question from P.L. Punia.
The minister said a special recruitment drive was launched Nov 19, 2008 to fill up the backlog of reserved vacancies.
