Working with other humanitarian organisations, such as the Libyan Red Crescent, the WFP has fed 543,000 people - 282,000 people in eastern Libya, and 261,000 in western Libya, the Rome-based organisation said.
WFP had earlier announced an initiative to feed 1.06 million people in North Africa where uprisings toppled governments in Egypt and Tunisia and sparked a civil war in Libya.
