149 polling booths reallocated in Jharkhand
December 17th, 2009 - 6:50 pm ICT (UTC +0700) by IANSRanchi, Dec 17 (IANS) The Election Commission has reallocated 149 polling booths in Maoist affected areas of Jharkhand ahead of the fifth phase of assembly polls Friday.
A press release by Jharkhand Election Commission Thursday said polling booths have been reallocated in 13 of the 16 assembly constituencies that go to the polls.
The highest number of booths reallocated are in Manika (48), followed by Latehar (27), Jagganthpur (17) and Simeria (13), among others.
A total of 290 candidates are in the fray whose fate will be decided by 3,393,172 voters.
The five-phased assembly polls end Dec 18 and the counting of votes takes place Dec 23.
