Women dies after being bitten by rats
July 23rd, 2011 - 12:59 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattReading, July 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A British woman who was stuck in the bed because of stroke has died after being bitten by rats. The woman who is in her 80s died at the hospital about two weeks after she was bitten by the rodents.
Rat infestation in the suburb where the woman lived is causing huge problems for the authorities. The infestation caused the police to evacuate the woman and her neighbors. The authorities say a post mortem on her body has been inconclusive therefore they cannot blame the rat infestation for her death.
The Reading Borough Council expressed their condolence to the bereaved family and promised to investigate the death of the woman. The council said that, “The council was extremely sorry to hear that a Byefield Road resident had passed away and sends its sincere condolences to the family. The council will continue to pass any information it has to the police to aid them in their investigation.”
The council has also promised to work on the infestation and ensure that the menace is removed. The Thames Valley Police told reporters that the woman died between the 14th and 15th of July.
The woman was not identified in the report.
