woman May 28, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): A woman who was traveling in a Trans State Airlines’ flight is suing the airline because it left her sleeping in her seat for 2 hours after the landing.

On Monday night, Ginger McGuire, 36, boarded the flight at Dulles International Airport outside Washington for Philadelphia. McGuire awoke at 4 a.m. and found herself alone in the empty airplane that had landed about 12.30 a.m. She said that it was horrifying for her to wake up alone on the 50-seat plane with all the doors locked.

McGuire, an employee of Michigan radio station said that she walked the aisle for 15 minutes before she was spotted by the cleaning crew. The door of the aircraft was unlocked by a Transportation Security Administration officer and two Philadelphia police officers who demanded to see her identification.

McGuire later held a news conference with her attorney, Geoffrey Fieger, and announced that she is suing Trans State Airlines. In her suit she accused the airline, which operates commuter flights for United Airlines under the United Express banner, of false imprisonment, negligence, emotional distress and breech of contract. Fieger told that for a crew of United Airlines and Trans State Airlines to leave his client and lock her in a plane is beyond unacceptable, beyond a gross abuse.

United Airlines told that it is trying for an out of court settlement of the issue. It added that it is working with partner Trans States Airlines to investigate the cause and remedy the situation with the customer.
