BROCKPORT, NEW YORK (BNO NEWS) — A Brockport, New York man was arrested on Thursday for advertising the sale of his children on the classified advertising Web site Craiglist, state police said on Friday.

Joshua A. Stagnitto, 24, was taken into custody on Thursday and charged with one count of Falsely Reporting an Incident in the 3rd degree, a misdemeanor.

The charge stems from a report made to Monroe County Child Protective Services advising them of a posting made on the Craiglist Web site, indicating a person was selling their children. A subsequent investigation by the New York State Police and Brockport Police Department revealed the source of the Craiglist post to be Stagnitto.

Stagnitto was issued an appearance ticket to reappear in Sweden Town Court on May 3, 2010 at 6 p.m. EST.
