Woodward, Jan 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Rescuers had to use hot water to free a young boy from a metal sign pole.

The Oklahoma boy who was not identified in the report is said to have licked the pole at the dare of his brother who he was walking with. However after the lick, he couldn’t get his tongue off the pole. The pole was a “STOP” metal sign just outside the Woodward Middle School.

The paramedics had to be called in before he was eventually freed from the pole. Rescuers say when they got to the scene, the boy was standing on his tiptoes and it seems that had been his position throughout the ordeal. When the deal was over, he told the rescuers that he got into the condition after his brother dared him to. He was taken to the Woodward hospital where he was given treatment. The boy is 8 years old.

The incident is very similar to a scene in the 1983 movie, “A Christmas Story” which was adapted from the Jean Shepard’s memoir of a 1940 boy.

The police did not indicate whether there will be any prosecutions.
