porkypigJuly 18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Two men have been issued local ordinance citations for battery for allegedly hitting a woman who was dressed up as ‘Porky Pig’. Though the perpetrators have denied the story, the onlookers have confirmed that they punched the mascot 10 to 15 times in the head.

The police have confirmed that the two young men named Taras Sikalchuk and Dmytro Petrychenko had earlier taken photographs with the Porky Pig mascot at the Six Flags Great America in Gurnee. Then they assaulted the mascot until they were stopped and detained by the Six Flag authorities. The aggressive duo were detained till the arrival of the police. The woman is said to be suffering from headaches and a stiff neck after being punched while inside the mascot. The 24 year old was hit on the sides and top of her head from inside the costume.

A spokesperson for Great America said that the injuries sustained to the employee was minor. She also said that the behavior by the two men were a breach of the code of conduct expected from the patrons of Great America. Though the park security removed the guests immediately from the park, the onlookers found the incident to be very disturbing. One of them showed sympathy for the mascots who stand in the sun all day in the heavy costumes. One of them called the two men ‘losers’ and said that the attack was uncalled for. According to another young patron of the theme park, the attack on the cartoon character was not justified and Porky Pig should gather up the other cartoon characters and beat up the two men.
