Sydney, Mar 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A prank by an air stewardess has caused her to lose her job with Virgin Blue.

The Sunday Herald Sun reported that the flight attendant placed a toddler in the overhead compartment of a flight. The toddler was traveling with his parents, Natalie and Shayne Williamson when the incident happened. The airline has admitted that the incident happened and has subsequently offered the family a credit for return trip tickets.

“My husband, Shayne, was standing one meter behind my son, Riley, when the air steward picked him up and placed him in the overhead compartment.” she told the Herald Sun. “I stood up and there were people laughing and then I said ‘Get my son out of there now. I was devastated. I was absolutely devastated.”

Natalie told the Sunday Herald Sun that the incident has left a devastating emotional effect on her son. She said her 20-month-old son, Riley, is currently suffering from anxiety and has withdrawn. The only person that he seems to trust now is her.

A spokesperson of Virgin apologized for the incident and said that the airline places the safety of their passengers on top of their priorities.
