Oct 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Thorpe Bay Yacht Club was recently evacuated after two police support officers saw a cobra draped over the handlebars of one of their bikes. They officers had everyone leave the Yacht Club and then called to their control room and had the area’s dangerous animals expert Lain Newberry.

Just prior to Mr Newberry’s arrival, the officer realised their mistake. They had been the victims of a prank and the “dangerous cobra” was actually a rubber toy snake. According to the ‘Daily Mail’, Mr Newberry stated, ‘I grabbed all the kit I would need to protect myself from a venomous snake, including a snake hook and my snake stick, which I need to grab snakes to stop them biting. I spotted the officers beside the yacht club boat yard when they said it was a rubber model. I must admit I laughed and asked if I could keep the snake.”
