Palmetto, Feb 11 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A woman believes that her talking parrots saved the day when two robbers came knocking.

The would-be robbers were trying to get into the house through the front door. When they realized that they were not successful, they tried to get into the house through the back.

All along, the woman, Minerva Bernache and her 4-year-old grandson, Dillon, were inside the house. As the robbers made their way to the back of the house, Minerva tried to get help. Just then, she saw the robbers running away from the house. Before the robbers could get away, the police moved into the neighborhood and rounded them up.

Minerva believes that it was the parrots who scared the robbers off. The birds imitate words in both English and Spanish. They can also construct some simple sentences. Minerva however thinks it was the unusual shriek of one of the birds that scared the robbers off.

Witnesses were able to positively identify 20-year-old Devin Shannon but they couldn’t do same when 22-year-old Keith Anderson was paraded. Shannon has been taken to the custody and charged with attempted burglary while Anderson is listed as suspect.
