Dec 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A woman has been detained by the Spanish police after she faked her own kidnapping in an effort to test whether her husband cared enough about her to pay the ransom. The woman sent her spouse a photograph of herself, with her hands and feet bound, and demand for twenty-six thousand dollars in exchange for her safe return.

The message and photo was sent to the husband’s cell phone in a text message which was said to be from the “kidnappers.” When he did not immediately answer, the text demanding ransom was sent again later in the day, along with new warnings that he should not go to the police. He chose to ignore those warnings, and the police were called in.

When police put out a search for the woman’s car, she was found at a shopping mall in a town on the Mediterranean coast, called Gandia. The statement by police said, “The woman, who was traveling alone and was in perfect health, was the supposed victim of the kidnapping.” Although she tried at first to convince the police she had been released earlier in the day, she later confessed to faking the kidnapping in order to test her husband’s love.
