South Western Ambulance service takes ‘dead man’ to morgue, Undertaker notices that he is alive
September 29th, 2010 - 10:04 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattSep 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In some bizarre news a patient was pronounced dead and then he was taken to the morgue. However he made full recovery after an undertaker spotted that he was breathing
An unnamed patient was pronounced dead by ambulance crews but later he was found to be breathing by an undertaker. The patient was taken by paramedics who are supposed to run a series of check-ups before declaring the patient dead. The ambulance not only declared him dead but also took him to the morgue.
On the way due to the patient’s luck, he was noticed by an undertaker and was found breathing. Later it was reported that the man was fully recovered. This is not the first issue related to ambulance misconduct. In 2008 a patient was left to walk unaided when he was suffering from severe chest pains. Reports states that 23 cases were found transgression because of equipment failure and nine cases were diagnosed wrongly.
Footage from the CCTV camera proves that patient was not carefully checked and was left unaided.
Dr Andy Smith said that these issues should be reported immediately and staff related to agencies need to learn a lesson from the past incidents. And in future proper investigation needs to be done before declaring someone as dead.
