Hilton Head, Mar 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Robert Gary Jones was killed in a freak accident while he was jogging on the beach. A single engine plane had to make an emergency landing, and while doing so, it claimed the life of the father of 2 children – Robert Gary Jones. He was listening to music on his iPod, so that might be the reason why he didn’t hear the plane and move away.
The coroner revealed on Tuesday that Robert Gary Jones belonged to Woodstock, Ga. and he didn’t hear the roar of the plane, and didn’t run to safety, because he was listening to music on his iPod. The coroner also added that the plane was ‘basically gliding.’ The plane was in trouble and had to make an emergency landing because, its propeller was damaged, and the pilot also didn’t see the jogger because his view was blocked, as there was oil on his windshield. If the pilot had seen that the jogger was in the line of fire, then he might have chosen a different spot to make his emergency landing, in order to save the jogger.
The plane belongs to Edward I. Smith according to the FAA records. When he was asked to comment on the unfortunate accident then he said that, “I’ve got a lot of issues going on right now. I’ve got a plane that’s all torn up. And I’ve got a young man that I killed.”
