Jan 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Bronx Housing Court have allowed the residents of Bonnie House co-op, to go ahead with an eviction proceedings against Rita Hyman and Murray Hyman, as they have apparently violated the “no pet harboring” clause of the building, which they have taken on lease. The neighbors complained that their daughter’s pooch, Rocky stays with them all the time and barks loudly when Rita Hyman sings. This causes a lot of trouble for the neighbors.
The neighbors have filed the case at the Bronx Housing Court, but that did not stop the Hyman family from taming Rocky. It actually belongs to their daughter Julie, who keeps on bringing the dog to the house, as her mother Rita Hyman loves pampering the dog. Rita Hyman 62, was subjected to a severe car crash in 2003, that left her disabled. She said that Rocky is like a family to her, who gives her a different outlook and “keeps her going”. She lovingly calls Rocky her “therapy dog”, and so she does not want anyone to damage this special relationship. Rocky also provides comfort to Rita Hyman’s father Sal Markowicz, 85, who has been a holocaust survivor for nine times and lives next door. He comes to play with the dog daily. He said that he needs to see him so that he does not feel lonely. Julie said that Rocky belongs to her and her sick old parents feel happy in his company. She also added that if the other dogs are allowed to enter the building then why not Rocky?
However, the lawyer for Bonnie House, Eric Kahan had a different opinion. He said that with the statement that Rocky belongs to Julie, the family is trying to escape the rules and regulations of the building. He is happy with the final decision of the court as now the family is left with just two options, either to move out or to give up. Murray Hyman said that they will keep fighting for the dog until they win.
