New York, Dec 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Some parents were left really outraged after a New York schoolteacher told their wards there was nothing like Santa Claus. Some of the parents registered their protests at the comments of the 58-year-old teacher with some branding her “real-life Scrooge.”

Teacher Leatrice Ann Eng of the George W. Miller Elementary School in Nanuet, New York has since been forced to apologize. Eng was teaching the class of seven and eight-year-olds about the North Pole when one smart kid pointed out that that is where Santa Claus lives.

She turned to the students and told them that there is no such thing as Santa Claus. She also explained to the kids that the gifts that they find under the family’s Christmas tree do not in fact come from Santa through the chimney but from mummy and daddy. That is what some parents hate for their children to hear.

One parent however doesn’t see the big deal about the whole issue. Mother Irene Hoffman told reporters that, “This whole thing is being blown out of proportion. I think we should focus on our children’s education and just move on.”

In the United Kingdom recently, angry parents petitioned the country’s advert regulators claiming that Littlewoods’ ad about Santa should be removed from the screens. The ad told children Santa does not exist and the gift in fact come from mum!
