Pranksters hack road signs in Kentucky to warn people about zombies
June 25th, 2011 - 12:36 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattFlorence, June 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Pranksters hacked a road sign in Kentucky and instead switched it with a message that warned motorists about zombies instead. The electronic road signs that were tampered with, are at the Interstate 71-75 corridor.
Before the tampering, the road signs were warning the motorists and the drivers about the upcoming repairs to the road. However after the tampering, the sign read as ‘Nightly lane closures, zombies ahead’.
The news of the hacked electronic sign reached the higher authorities as well and they certainly weren’t amused. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokeswoman Nancy Wood revealed that the Transportation Cabinet learned about the switch on Thursday and she said that the electronic sign had been switched off, so that the zombies alert doesn’t flash any more. She also divulged that it would be turned on only when it has been repaired.
In the past too, hackers have played such pranks on numerous electronic signs in the states of Florida, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Illinois and Texas.
