Missouri, June 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Missouri police made a laughing stock of themselves when they repeatedly shot at a gator, which they thought was real and a threat to the public. The incident happened in a pond, which is located in Independence, Missouri.

The public had called the police fearing that the alligator would be a menace to them. The police arrived at the scene and they thought that indeed the gator was for real and they fired bullets at it. However they were in for a surprise when the bullets were deflected off the body of the fake gator. Closer inspection revealed that the gator was made of cement, and wasn’t a real live gator at all.

It was also later learned that the cement gator had been placed there by a man, who wanted to scare the children and stop them from entering the pond. However what he didn’t realize that the ploy would work even more further and even the adults would be scared.

Later a spokesperson with the Missouri Department For Conservation divulged that in that area, alligators don’t live there because the weather is too cold for them to survive.
