London, Dec 5 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The police in Britain have figured out a way to keep rowdy students quiet. In an unprecedented move, the police have bought about 10,000 sweets and intend to give them out to students who go on drinking spree in the night.

Some of the wrappers of the sweets will read “Quiet Please” and “Shush.” The police plans to give them to students who go out and drink in Durham and they hope that the move will help remind the students that other people need to rest so some quietness will be appreciated.

Residents have complained to the police that revelers often make noise in the residential areas after night out. The sweets are part of the campaign Safe City which is a collaboration between the Durham County Council, Durham University, PubWatch scheme and Teikyo University of Japan in Durham.

The police say handing out sweets have been done at other areas before but this is the first time that it will be done with a message on the wrapper.

Inspector Paul Anderson of Durham Police told the Daily Mail that, “The idea of handing out sweets or lollipops at the end of the night has been done in other areas, but we think Durham is the first to include a message aimed at those who might otherwise make a racket.”

Durham aspires to be the safest city in London.
