New York, Jan 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A US pizza chain has been forced to apologize after a woman of Asian descent was racially abused on the eatery’s receipt. Minhee Cho who is the communications manager of ProPublica.com tweeted a scanned image of the receipt to register her protest.

Papa John’s, the eatery where the incident happened, has apologized for the incident.

Cho tweeted image of the receipt with the words, “Hey @PapaJohns just FYI my name isn’t ‘lady chinky eyes.”

The tweet was retweeted about 500 times with the image being viewed more than 150,000 times. This prompted Papa John’s to issue an apology on the incident. The apology was carried on both the Twitter and Facebook pages of the company.

The company later wrote on its Facebook page that, “This act goes against our company values, and we’ve confirmed with the franchisee that this matter was addressed immediately… We are truly sorry for this customer’s experience.”

The incident prompted massive outrage on the Internet. This is not the first time that a racial receipt has been handed an Asian customer at a restaurant in the United States.

Last month, a clerk at Chick-fil-A was fired for giving two Asian students receipts which had their names as “Ching” and “Chong.”
