Peter Solomon can now sue jail officials because a rat bit him in the genitals
January 14th, 2011 - 9:49 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattNassau, Jan 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A man who claims that rodents attacked his penis in 2007 can now sue the county officials for the incident.
A judge has ruled that the man, Peter Solomon, can go ahead and seek damages but said that it should be determined whether he was bitten by a rat or a mouse and whether he was bitten or scratched by the animal.
Solomon believes that the officials at the Nassau County Correctional Center should be held responsible for the incident. He claims that it was because they placed him in a rodent infested cell that he got those injuries to his penis. He claims that the treatment was discriminatory and the prison officers placed him in that cell mainly because he was black.
However the lawyers of the prison facility believe that the claims by Solomon are unfounded. They deny that the cell where Solomon was placed is rodent infested. They claim that the incident though happened did not require any stitches and was not that serious to warrant the course that Solomon wants to take.
Solomon claims that he was attacked by the rodent when he was in a medical observation unit. He claim that the animal bit him on the hand and on the penis.
