In 2004, when Billy was lost, his owner Carol Rogers was completely devastated. Reportedly, she and her husband had put posters, contacted several vets and animal rehabilitation centers to trace his cat back. He even offered a reward of 250, to the person who could get Billy back to him.

However, when nothing worked pout, the masters opted for the wisest solution and forgot Billy. However, the vet who discovered Billy turned out to be more a loyal cat lover than his masters. The vet who brought the cat back to the Rogers, said that Billy was brought to the Park Veterinary Surgery, by a West Derby woman, who looks after and gives shelter to stray cats. The woman somehow identified the cat after she noticed the silicon identity chip on him. However, the biggest irony was that, the vet, who was called seven years ago by Carol Rogers, could easily identify Billy, but not his own owners. When the vet called up Carol Rogers she started wondering who Billy was? She had to be reminded by the vet, that Billy was the same cat, who was lost in 2004. Nevertheless, she was extremely delighted after she came to know about her whereabouts and called up her husband to give him the good news, but even he had forgotten the cat by then.

After Billy returned home, Carol Rogers could not believe her eyes. She said that it was “lovely” and she felt that Billy had never been away from them. They felt all more happy because the cat was kept under good care in their absence as he was in a very good health.
