Pensioner drives down platform In some bizarre news, a pensioner took a wrong turn when he was driving and ended up driving on the railway platform.

There was utter confusion on the Esher station in Surrey when the passengers suddenly realized that a Saab was driving towards them on the platform. They scrambled to safety and soon the 80-year-old driver also realized his blunder. His wife was also sitting in the passenger’s seat.

In all, he drove around 75 yards on the platform and on many occasions he was too close to the edge of the platform as well. This incident happened around 4 pm on Saturday. The passengers who were waiting for trains on the platform rushed here and there. Some of them also dialed 999 and soon the police officials also rushed to the scene. An ambulance also made an appearance at the station.

When the 80-year-old pensioner realized that he had made a very grave error then he seemed to be mortified, according to witnesses. His car needed to be removed from the platform and as a result, some of the trains needed to be rescheduled as well.

Passenger Suzan Baker said that, “I was absolutely amazed when I saw the car on the platform. It was not what you expect to see. Everyone was doing a double take and wondering what on earth the car was doing there.”
