Mounties all set to tackle case of a mystery headstone
January 25th, 2012 - 12:57 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattCalgary, Jan 24 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A property owner in the vicinity of Calgary got a nice little surprise when she found a headstone on the premises of her property. The details “Father Frank Crummy 1869-1952” are inscribed on the headstone.
Property owner Mounties informed the police about the headstone and the police officials are trying to trace it to its original location.
“It was well-placed against one of the grain bins in a somewhat respectful manner — it wasn’t just dumped. I’ve investigated vandalized grave sites before but never a head stone that was recovered — it’s pretty rare,” according to Staff Sgt. James McLaren who is associated with the Gleichen RCMP.
The local people have also been contacted about the bizarre appearance of the headstone but till date, no one had been able to offer any clues about it at all. As a result, the RCMP is widening its net and has issued a request to the public and asked them to help in the search for the apt resting place of the headstone. “We’re trying to get the headstone back to where it belongs. It doesn’t belong in a police station,” according to Staff Sgt. James McLaren.
