Artist Laura Bell lives in Roscommon, Michigan. She says that she was inspired to create her dryer lint version of the well known painting after she saw another work of art which had been created from lint at the ‘Ripley’s Museum’ in Wisconsin a decade ago. She went on to spend about seven to eight hundred hours collecting the lint, and another two hundred hours forming that lint into a fourteen foot wide by four foot tall recreation. Bell insists that the lint is all it’s original color and has not been colored or dyed in any way.

The mural has been bought by ‘Ripley’s Believe it or Not’ and will be placed on display on one of their thirty two world wide museums. On the subject of how people react to her creation, Bell says, “For some people, it’s a very spiritual experience. Others are simply amazed at what someone could do with basic laundry lint.”
