Man tries to pay with $1M bill at Walmart
January 4th, 2012 - 11:00 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLos Angeles, Jan 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 53-year-old insisted that a Walmart store at North Carolina should accept his $1 million bill because it was a legal tender. After picking vacuum cleaner and other household stuffs, the clerk at the counter was shocked with the bill that the man presented.
After being presented with a bill of $476, the man confidently pulled out the $1 million bill and demanded a change. When he was told that the amount was not legit, he insisted prompting the store to call in the police. When the police got to the store, they realized that the amount was faked and as such arrested the man. He was taken to custody and charged.
He is currently in jail and scheduled to appear before court on the charges of trying to acquire property with false pretense. He is also charged with presenting a forged instrument.
Since 1969, the US government has stopped the circulation of bigger notes than 100. When the country stopped printing higher notes, $10,000 notes were the highest notes in the country.
The man has been identified as Michael Fuller and investigators say they have already presented him with a $17,500 bail bond. It is not immediately clear if he had an attorney.
