Munich, Dec 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) An American has found himself in hot waters after his attempt to avoid going to work ended him with court date. Scott Bennett thought he had figured the best way to get his employers to pay him entitlements after he falsely published an obituary of his mother in a local newspaper.

Police say Bennett submitted the obituary notice to The Jeffersonian Democrat for publication. The newspaper claims that Bennett met all the requirements and they subsequently published the notice in the newspaper.

First signs of trouble were when the newspaper started receiving several calls about the notice. Later on, the ‘deceased’ woman walked into the newspaper office explained that she was very much alive. The newspaper of course apologized but Bennett don’t have such a luxury because it is not only in his mother’s hands now. The editor of the newspaper say he spoke to the woman involved and she was understanding concerning the issue.

45-year-old Bennett has some answers to give for breaking the law. He has been charged for his action. Bennett is due in court after being served with disorderly conduct charge.

It is not clear what form of action the employers will take against Bennett.
