Man Discovers Dead Mouse In Bread

September 29, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Stepehen Forse, a man from Kidlington, Oxfordshire was making sandwiches for his kids when he found a dead mouse in the bread loaf. Mr. forse said that he had already used a couple of slices of the bread before he came to the part with the embedded mouse. The Dead mouse in bread story sent shockwaves through the country and led health officials to question the hygiene standards maintained at the bakeries all over Britain.
Mr. Forse first noticed a dark colored object embedded within the bread which he mistook for a lump of dough but he was wrong. On closer inspection he found that the object had fur on it. Mr. Forse immediately contacted the Cherwell District Council and Environment health officers, who visited the residence to collect the evidence.
During the inspection one of the health officials pointed out that the dead mouse in bread was missing its tail. This comment caused further distress to the Forse family as they thought the children might have consumed the tail accidentally. The Bread Loaf was manufactured by a company named Premiere Foods. Within hours of receiving the complaint the company stopped its production line and called in a detailed hygiene inspection. Later it was confirmed that it was an isolated incident but the firm was fined £5,500 and they were also ordered to pay £ 11, 10947 in cost to the Oxford Crown Court. The health officials did not find any evidence of a mouse infestation within the factory premises and this is the first time the company has faced such an issue.
A spokesman for the company said that the company is trying its best to keep incidents like this from occurring again. We are sure Mr. Forse is going to stay away from Bread for a long time to come.
