Man Bites Police On Being Questioned About A Pet Peeve

dutch September 7, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The Dutch police found themselves in a strange situation when an eighty two year old man bit the officers who wanted to question him over a dispute with his neighbors. The elderly man seemed to have concerns about how his neighbors were treating their pets and had accused them of negligence.

The pet peeve had apparently got out of hand and the law enforcement authorities had to mediate in the matter. The man was going out on his bicycle when the police arrived at the central village of Nijkerk in Holland.

When asked about his identification, he simply got down from his bike and started to kick around also biting some of the officers present. The police promptly arrested him on Thursday. Although the penalty for obstructing an authority from doing his duty is considered to be a serious offense, the old man did not have to face a harrowing time. The assault on the officers was overlooked to a great extent, most probably due to his advanced years. He was released later after a round of questioning.

A similar case had occurred in USA back in 2004 when a man had bitten both the officer and his dog while trying to avoid arrest. The offense committed by the man then was evading paying a cab fare which brought the police into his house. He was subdued later on by means of a Taser stun gun which was brought by the support personnel to help the officer making the arrest.
