dutch police Nijkerk, Sep 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) An 82 year old Dutch man was arrested on Thursday and questioned after he kicked and bit police officers who had moved in to settle a dispute between the man and his neighbors.

The incident happened in the Dutch village of Nijkerk. Police was called in to settle a dispute between the man and his neighbors over apparently what the man perceives to be the negligence of their pets.

But the man was not ready for peace when the police asked him to identify himself. The man was about to leave on his bike when officers asked him to identify himself. The octogenarian got violent after that and attacked the police officers resulting in the arrest of the man. The man was later released after questioning.

The offense of obstructing a law enforcement agent from doing his work is punished severely in Holland, but it seems that man’s advanced age might have led to his being released sooner after rounds of questioning.

A similar thing happened in the United States in 2004. A man attacked and bit both the officers and his dog in a bid to avoid being arrested. That offense was much graver than the initial offense of not paying a cab fare.
