Bethany Lott Bethany Lott, 25 wanted to get married to her boyfriend Richard Butler at the top of a 4,600-foot North Carolina mountain, Max Patch Bald, close to the Tennessee border. But, she had probably never thought that it would be her last wish.

The couple climbed the mountain last weekend at the request of Lott. Butler carried an engagement ring for Lott as he planned to propose to the lady after reaching the top. But, lightening knocked down Butler and his fiancée killing Bethany and inflicting Butler with the third-degree burns.

Just moments before death, Lott’s last words were, “God baby, look how beautiful it is”, Butler informed later. He added, “She was almost five feet above me and jumped on me as the lightning struck. I fell down following a 180 degree rotation. I felt like my legs are on fire and the shoes were burning.”

He added, “She did not like to sit at home fearing all those warnings. She said, she is different from others.”

The couple did not bother about the bad weather, thunderstorms as well as tornadoes and went ahead with the idea of mountain climbing.

Butler further added, “When I turned around, she did not say anything. I tried to reach her by crawling and did CPR for around 15 minutes but nothing worked. Later, when the EMTs were working on her, I put the ring on her finger.”

The thunderstorms and tornado have taken at least 5 lives in Ohio last weekend.
