Laptop Thief Returns Important Contents On USB Stick
October 21st, 2010 - 6:18 pm ICT by Pen Men At WorkOctober 21, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): A unique case of theft recently took place in Sweden, which shows that humanity is not a lost word yet. An aged professor at the Umea University of Sweden was nicely surprised when the thief who stole his laptop returned his research work on a USB stick.
The incident took place when the aged professor left his laptop bag by the stairwell for a quick visit to the laundry room. Upon returning he found that the entire bag had gone missing, so the professor went ahead and blocked all his credit cards. A few minutes later when he returned back to the stairwell he was reunited with his laptop bag.
Surprisingly the big-hearted thief returned all the calendar, diaries, credit cards and work documents to the professor, only the laptop was missing from the bag. The thief was generous enough to return the professor’s car keys as well.
Unfortunately the academician did not back up his laptop frequently so he was pretty heartbroken over the loss of a decade’s worth of work. Nonetheless the professor could not help but admire the generosity of the thief for returning his documents. However the considerate thief had another surprise waiting for the aged man. A week after the theft the professor returned home to find an envelope with a USB memory stick. The memory stick had all the important documents and personal files that went missing.
Although the thief kept the laptop for himself, he was compassionate enough to return the contents of the machine to its rightful owner. It goes without saying that the professor is overjoyed at the outcome and said that other thieves should learn from this incident.
