Laptop thief mails his victim an USB stick with all the backed up data
October 19th, 2010 - 2:36 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattStockholm, Oct 18 (THAINDIAN NEWS) It is refreshing to know that there are some thieves out there that still have some “principles”. At least this thief does.
That is even what the victim of a stolen felt. A professor at the Umea University in Sweden got the “perfect” thief to pick his laptop. According to the professor, he received the entire data on his laptop on a USB stick, a week after the laptop was stolen.
The professor was so pleased with the gesture of the thief that he was full of praises for the thief during the narration of the story to the media. He was not bothered that the thief stole from him in the first place. He was rather thankful that the thief left his money and credit cards in the bag and took only his laptop.
As if that gesture was not good enough, the thief guessed that the professor might have a new laptop for now so he sent the complete data on the stolen laptop to him.
This gesture got the professor believing in humanity again. It is good for the dear professor but he must not count on that again.
