London, Feb 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 21-year-old dental nurse suffers from a rare eating disorder which causes her to crave for things that are not edible. She narrated how she has eaten more than 4,000 washing-up sponges and over 100 bars of soap.

Doctors say Kerry Trebilcock suffers from a rare condition called pica. She told The Sun that, “One day I will beat this and be able to have a shower or do the washing-up without feeling hungry.”

Kerry has adopted a means to enjoy the objects. She said that she sometimes dips her objects into chocolate and other drinks and enjoy it like a biscuit. She further narrated how she chooses the kind of soap and sponge she ate. At worse times, Kerry said she ate the unusual objects about five times a day.

The Sun reports that Kerry started eating the unusual food after a visit to Morocco in 2008. She was reportedly infected by the hookworm and that caused her to crave for junk foods.

She further explained that when she decided to wash some plates after a dinner, she realized that she has developed a strong sense of appetite for sponges too. That later developed to include soap.

As unusual as Kerry’s story may seem, she is not alone. The condition caused a toddler to rave for unusual objects as food including lightbulbs.
