October 27, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): A passenger packed Jumbo Jet was forced to land midway through its flight after a man became involved in a family altercation. The discord took place high up at 30,000ft, and it forced the pilot to make an emergency landing in Newfoundland. The cabin crew panicked and informed the pilot when Roy threatened to kill his father-in-law.

The UK-bound Virgin Atlantic jet was diverted to Canada after the 44-year old drunkard named Roy Anthony Heaps became violent. Roy went on drunken brawl with his family members in the packed jumbo jet carrying 451 passengers and jeopardized their safety. When things got out of hand the cabin crew notified the pilot. The plane made an emergency landing Canadian Airport where Mr. Roy Anthony Heaps was arrested by the police.

Last night Heaps was handed down a bill for fines and damages worth £14,500 by the court. Heaps was among the 451 passengers and 17 crew members onboard the Boeing 747-400 flight that took off from Orlando. The flight was supposed to go directly to Manchester but it had to make an emergency stop at Gander in Canada due to Heaps’ dispute with wife Joanne, 37 and father-in-law Lawrence Williams. The police were already waiting at the tarmac to arrest Roy Anthony Heaps when the plane landed. Later on Joanne refused to comment on the incident when she was approached at the couple’s red-brick townhouse.

Although charges for assaulting and threatening his father-in –law have been withdrawn, heaps will have to pay the fines to the Gander Provincial Court, Newfoundland.
