Mumbai, Nov 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Clerks and visitors at a tax office in a village in India had to flee for dear life when two farmers registered their protest by dumping snakes there. The two farmers were reportedly fed up with officials demanding bribes from them so they registered their protest by emptying three sacks of snakes into the offices.

Police and wildlife officials who later collected the snakes from the office say at least 40 snakes including dangerous ones were dropped at the office. Fortunately no one was bitten or injured in the melee that followed.

Uttar Pradesh state official Ramsukh Sharma told the Associated Press that, “Snakes started climbing up the tables and chairs. There was total chaos. Hundreds of people gathered outside the room, some of them with sticks in their hands, shouting that the snakes should be killed.”

The incident took place at Basti which is located about 300 kilometers southwest of Lucknow. The police do not find the incident amusing and are searching for the two farmers who have been identified as Hukkul Khan and Ramkul Ram.

The two men have reportedly been going to the tax office for their tax records but the officials have allegedly been demanding bribes prompting the men to take the drastic action.
