KKK ice cream Florida, Sept 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) An ice cream shop in Florida chose the wrong kind of costume for its mascot. Based on the appearance of the mascot, customers are confusing the appearance of the mascot with that of a Ku Klux Klan costume and that is the worst of advertisement you could come up with.

The newspaper Ocala Star-Banner reported that the headgear of the mascot is causing the problem. The gear from a distance looks like a hood of a KKK member. After the shop owners realized the problem, they reportedly took out the mascot.

The shop has received criticism for the mascot but the owners say the furor that it has generated was unnecessary.

Ice Cream Family Corner and Sandwiches is owned by Liza Diaz and her family. It was opened just recently and the shop was hoping to lure customers in with the mascot. They therefore hired a man to wear the costume. They failed however to notice the strong resemblance of the white headgear which has been shaped to look like an ice-cream cone with the hood of the KKK.

Diaz defended the motive of the family. She told the newspaper that, “We’re a friendly environment, family-oriented. We’re not (racist). We’re very friendly, very religious.”
