Hotel Remorse As Tourists Abused at Maldives Love Ceremony

Oct 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A hotel located in the Maldives was very apologetic on Thursday after a couple who were there to be blessed at a beautiful beach love ceremony discovered that they were actually subjected to foul abuse which was said to them in a language which they did not speak or comprehend.

Officials from the ‘Vilu Reef’ hotel stated that the actions of the staff member were “unforgivable” after the ceremony which was supposed to be a wedding renewal was actually several lines of sexual and religious slurs spoken very solemnly to the couple by the hotel staff.

In a statement from the hotel owner’s it was said, “The management of the resort is deeply saddened by this humiliating event,” and they went on to call the conduct of the staff member “unforgivable”.

A local Minivan News website stated that the Muslim majority Maldives is known to be an exclusive honeymoon retreat, and that the English speaking couple were led through a barrage of accusations, curses and swearing. “Various types of insults about the woman and the man, their clothing and demeanour, are being spoken throughout in the form of a running commentary in a sports video,” it stated.

The hotel showed great remorse, “We sincerely apologise for the damage and serious repercussions this incident could cause to the tourism industry of the Maldives, the image of the country, the Maldivian people and their government.”
