Kelowna, April 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A Great Dane has taken an exceptional interest in 30 chicks belonging to its owner. The owner of the dog, Sue Paul also owns Eco Turf Farms and the recent harsh weather forced him to bring thirty eggs inside the house to hatch.

The 16-month-old dog has developed a special bond with the chicks since they hatched. The owners say the animal started watching over the eggs when they were brought into the house and placed in the incubator. Paul revealed that when the eggs hatched, the dog licked one of the chicks and showed keen curiosity in the little birds as they hatched. The chicks were transferred to a box from where they will be transferred to their henhouse when the weather gets better.

The dog has since been guarding the chicks. Paul says anyone who takes any of the chicks out of their box has to deal with the stern look from the dog. The dog has gone as far as changing its sleeping place just to be beside the chicks.

Paul said that, “Every time you go near the box, he has to be there. He’s just very curious and makes sure they go back in the box.”
