Wisconsin, Sept 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A cemetery worker has been arrested after he was accused of stealing a Fender Telecaster guitar from a casket. The robber has been identified as 39-year-old Steven Conard.

According to the police, Conard got to know about the guitar in the coffin when a funeral director told him and another co-worker at the Allouez Catholic Cemetery which is located in Wisconsin. The other co-worker reportedly told the police that when the funeral director left, Conard opened the coffin and when he saw the valuable guitar, he reportedly asked the other man if he would tell anyone if her (Conard) stole it.

The co-worker, James Lang, told the officers that he told Conard he will report it if he did it. Conard then closed the casket but Lang says when he came back to check the coffin again, the guitar was gone. Lang told the funeral director and the police were notified. A search on Conard revealed the guitar and he was arrested.

Officials say when they questioned him Conard said that, “This isn’t something I normally do… I just have a respect for fine musical instruments.”

It was Randall Jourdan’s death wish that his guitar should be buried with him when he die. The family took possession of the guitar and placed it in the casket again.
