Berlin, Dec 2 (THAINDIAN NEWS) German newspaper The Bild has reported that “Germany’s dumbest bank robber” has been jailed seven years. The police say the man tried to rob a bank that had moved out about 17 years back.

When the man who was only identified as Siegfried K. realized that the place is no longer a bank, he forced a passer-by to withdraw 400 euros for him. He wielded a toy gun during the robbery.

The court heard that, “After the defendant recognised the situation, he changed his plan and demanded a passer-by withdraw money from the cash machine. She withdrew 400 euros and the defendant made off with the cash in a car he had stolen.”

The police were left with a vital clue when the man later abandoned the car and the toy car at another place. The police run the fingerprint and the 57-year-old was later arrested. The incident happened last May in the German western city of Osnabrueck.

When he appeared before the court, Siegfried pleaded guilty and confessed to the robbery. He was jailed seven years.

Siegfried is not new to prison. He has been convicted on 22 previous instances in a period of just 40 years.
