May 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A thirty nine year old postman from Germany by the name of Uwe Mitzscherlich could not cope with the upcoming death of his beloved pet Cecelia. When the vets informed him that his over weight cat who had asthma was dying, he felt she was “breaking his heart” and “shaking [his] confidence daily.” Instead of letting the cat die naturally, as most animals do, he married it.

No that was not a misprint, the German postman from the eastern town of Possendorf really chose to marry his dying cat. Legitimate marriage ceremonies between an animal of any kind and a human are illegal in Germany (as well as most countries, hopefully) so the cat lover chose to pay an actress 400 bucks (that’s dollars, not deer) to officiate a fake wedding service. He married his poor dying pet, who had been his live in companion for the last 10 years, until ‘death do they part’ because Mr Mitzscherlich said he had wanted to tie the knot before his asthmatic cat Cecilia died. “Cecilia is such a trusting creature. We cuddle all the time and she has always slept in my bed.” The actress, Christin-Maria Lohri, the ceremony’s officiator stated, “At first I thought it was a joke. But for Mr Mitzscherlich it’s a dream come true”.
