Chestertown, Nov 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The police in Chestertown led a man dressed in the costume of Frosty the Snowman away to jail after arresting him for assaulting a police dog. The incident happened on Saturday during the town’s Christmas parade. The annual event in Chestertown brings about several residents together.

It turned out to a bad day for Kevin Michael Walsh who allegedly assaulted the police canine and two officers. He has been charged with assault and disorderly conduct. The police say things were going on smoothly when Walsh was initially arrested but he turned nasty when he got out of the parade.

The police say Walsh kicked the dog named Henzo without any provocation during the parade. When he was taken out of the parade as a result of what he did, he allegedly struck the dog’s handler with the head of his costume. Sgt. John A. Dolgos said an officer “kindly escorted him away from the crowd and then it got heated.”

Another officer joined in and as Walsh was being led to the car, he allegedly struck the other officer as well as the onlookers could hear him shout “You have no right to arrest me.”

The police say Walsh was taken to the district court where he was given a bond hearing.
