December 11th, 2010 - 12:06 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattLondon, Dec 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A father of one died after he drank from a Lucozade bottle, which was filled with weed killer. Phillip Ward was drunk and he was extremely thirsty so he went to the kitchen to drink. Unknowingly he picked up the bottle of Lucozade, which was filled with a weed killer. The bottle was kept in the kitchen mistakenly by Phillip’s father – Michael. He was using the weed killer when he was gardening and then had left it in the kitchen.
The weed killer contained a very toxic chemical, which is known as paraquat. It ought to be mentioned here that it is such a toxic chemical that it has been banned since the last 3 years. Phillip was so drunk that he didn’t at all realize that he wasn’t drinking Lucozade but rather a toxic weed killer.
The next morning Michael found that Phillip had some greenish stains on his hand and there was also a smell of ammonia in the air. Michael was alarmed and he enquired about it. Phillip replied that, “What are you on about? I got some pop from the kitchen.”
Michael realized that Phillip had unknowingly drunk weed killer so he immediately called the emergency services. And Phillip also started to complain that he was having trouble in breathing. He was given medical aid at the hospital, but he died a day later.
