Los Angeles, Jan 30 (THAINDIAN NEWS) What was meant to be a joke tweet landed two Brits in serious trouble. Leigh Van Bryan and girlfriend Emily Bunting were arrested and detained with some serious criminals in the United States when officials found their joke tweet.

Before emplaning to the United States on last week Monday, Bryan wrote on his Twitter page that, “Free this week, for quick gossip/prep before I go and destroy America?” He followed that tweet up later when he again wrote, “3 weeks today, we’re totally in LA p****** people off on Hollywood Blvd and diggin’ Marilyn Monroe up!”

According to Bryan, that was supposed to be a joke but that was not the case for the US security forces. Shortly after arriving at the Los Angeles Airport, US officials detained the two and started interrogating them about their intentions in the United States. Despite their denial that the tweet was just a joke and “destroy America” was a British term to mean party, the two were handcuffed and escorted to jail.

They were brought out the next day and deported back to the United States through France. The two reached the Birmingham Airport on Wednesday afternoon.

US officials have confirmed the incident explaining that their information “revealed both individuals were inadmissible to the United States.”
