Drunk BaboonAug 31, (THAINDIAN NEWS) An unusual problem has snatched the peace out of the lives of the winemakers in and around Cape Town, South Africa. As per reports, a group of baboons have been vandalizing the vineyards in regular basis and savoring the taste of the fruit and returning back the next day to do the same. As per reports, the group of baboons has developed a special taste for the grapes that are used to make wines at Groot Constantia, the oldest vineyard in South Africa.

A reputed media source reported that the vandalism is being carried out by the baboons on a regular basis. The Baboons reportedly retreat to the mountains at night only to return the next day. While some leave the vineyard after the eating the grapes, few others who savor the taste of the fallen and fermented grapes pass out on the field. However, it is not only the vineyards that are suffering the burns of the Baboon’s attacks, as per reports, after their initial attack on vineyards, the baboons carry out further attacks on kitchens and households of the vineyard residents. Groot Constantia vineyard general manager Jean Naude said to media sources that the baboons carry out raids in kitchens and rip the thatches off the roofs. Jean Naude added that the baboons are “becoming increasingly bold and destructive”.

Justin O’Riain of the Baboon Research Unit at the University of Cape Town tired to explain the present behavior of the baboon and held that as human beings take up more and more of the lands of Baboons, the conflict between the two increases. According to him the development of human beings has pushed the baboon closers to each other and that is the reason why they are now carrying out the attacks.
