Dover Man charged for assault with a sandwich

Dover, Oct 26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A forty-year-old Maine man has found himself at the wrong side of the law after throwing a sandwich in the face of a clerk. Thomas Goulet reported himself to the police on Friday afternoon after the incident.

According to the police, Goulet who has been charged with Class B misdemeanor simple assault. According to reports he entered the store and gave his orders to the clerk. However the clerk had some few issues with Goulet’s order after he had delivered his son’s order.

The female clerk could not immediately ask Goulet about the issues on his orders because he was then on the phone. As a result, she moved on to serve other customers and when Goulet finished with his call, he was furious that his sandwich was not ready.

Before the clerk could explain why his meal was not ready, Goulet threw his son’s sandwich in the face of the clerk.

The incident, which was witnessed, by several customers and another clerk was reported to the police. However Goulet was gone before the police came in. The police used his vehicle registration number, which was copied by the witnesses around to contact Goulet. Goulet initially denied throwing the sandwich in the face of the clerk but there were too many witnesses at the scene for the police to swap Goulet’s denial to that of the witnesses.

He is due in court on December 3. He is on a $500 personal recognizance bail.
