‘Deer with wings’ disrupts power in Montana
June 20th, 2011 - 9:23 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattEast Missoula, June 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Northwestern Energy experienced disruption to its supply when a young deer ended up on one of the power lines of the company. The body of the fawn was dropped on the power line by an eagle, according to the account of an eyewitness.
The officials of the company managed to get the carcass off the power lines and power was eventually restored to the affected places. The worker who removed the animal from the power line admitted that he has not seen anything of like what happened in his career.
The officials suspect that the eagle dropped the animal and failed to retrieve it back leaving it behind in the process. A witness told reporters that she saw a bald eagle fly away from the carcass.
Local resident Lee Bridges was quoted by Daily Mail saying that, “I ask him the problem. He pointed up at the power line and said, ‘Well you had a deer with wings on it.’ I looked up there and there was this fawn, a carcass of a fawn, up in the power line.”
The cause of the power outage was only determined when the carcass was spotted on the wire. Residents endured about half-an-hour in the darkness before the power was restored.
